The Emile Henry butter dish preserves your butter, protecting it from light and air. Even out of the fridge, it keeps the butter fresh thanks to the HR ceramic (High Resistance) which remains cold for longer.

When serving on the table or for using in a recipe, the butter dish is handy: the ridges on the base prevent the butter from sliding when cutting.
